Dull Face? Dry Skin Scrubbing Ritual

Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like your skin just looked dull and lackluster, chances are dead skin cells are to blame?

Dehydration affects your skin’s ability to perform essential functions like cell turnover. Without adequate hydration, your skin does not shed its outer layer frequently enough, and dead cells accumulate on its surface. This contributes to clogged pores, congestion and a lackluster complexion.

 Slough Off Dry Skin
Have you ever tried dry skin scrubbing before?
Would you consider giving it a try for your dull complexion?
Dry skin scrubbing will be your favorite morning invigorating ritual.

The  Ritual Of Dry Skin Scrubing enhances your skin’s ability to absorb everything else, from acne medicine to anti-aging serum.”

If you scrub on a regular basis, you are consistently sloughing off the dead skin and allowing new and plump skin cells to come to the surface of your skin, which is a crucial step to achieving a brighter complexion.

The Dry Skin Scrubbing Ritual, is the active process of removing dead skin cells from the body. Our body sheds almost one million skin cells everyday, making room for fresh skin. Our body does this for several reasons: To eliminate external pollutants from the skin (remember your epidermis, or top level of skin is your largest organ, and your first defense against your environment), to adjust to climate, and to shed bacteria and fungus. While our body is remarkable in its ability to self-preserve and restore, sometimes it needs a little help, and that’s where exfoliation comes in.

Your skin care regimen shouldn't only consist of a shower with soap and water,

Dry Skin Scrubbing should be a care too!

exfoliate and revitalize the skin.

A friend of mine who is a holistic practitioner  introduced me to the dry skin scrubbing ritual. She taught me that scrubbing the skin daily in some form or other is great not only for exfoliation, but to help brighten the appearance of the complexion.

I am a huge believer in learning by doing.

I have to admit that I didn't pay lot of attention to that ritual until one day my face started to look dull.I then took my exfoliating cloth and started the ritual. I started by lightly scrubbing every morning and night with my soft cloth over my face and it started to sloughing off  dead skin cells, my skin felt so supple that now it is a part of my every day beauty regimen.

Benefits of Dry Skin Scrubbing Ritual

  • MAINTAIN A CLEAN AND CLEAR COMPLEXION

From clogged pores to ingrown hairs, 'Ready, Set, GLOW!' Dry Skin Scrubbing Ritual works to prevent the imperfections that cause your skin to feel rough and bumpy. With consistent use, you'll see an improvement in your overall tone and complexion.

  • LESS BLACKHEADS

Clean Pores (& Smaller Pores) Pores are generally clogged with sweat, dirt, and oil, causing waste to build up underneath the skin. Dry Skin Scrubbing helps keep pores clear allowing you to sweat freely, and your body to naturally detoxify to the best of its ability.

  • SKIN CARE PRODUCTS WORK BETTER

Dry skin scrubbing exfoliates the skin, which defuses surface imperfections and allows pore congestion a direct pathway to purge. This exfoliation process also increases the absorption and efficacy of your products.

  • ANTI-AGING

As many exfoliants do, dry skin scrubbing gives your face that “instant glow” that makes you look radiant. Dry Skin Scrubbing helps remove the dead skin cells to make way for the younger, healthier skin beneath.

    Before you begin

Scrub: You will need a natural, non-synthetic bath and body bathing accessory like our Exfoliating Cloth
You can alternately use a brush. It is important to look for brushes with natural bristles, as synthetics can be too harsh for the skin, leaving micro-cuts. You may want to use a smaller, softer brush where the skin is most delicate like the face, neck, and breast area.
Dry Skin Scrubbing of course requires scrubbing over dry skin. The best time to do it is right before taking a shower.
It’s very important that you clean your scrubbing cloth regularly. Use warm water and a nontoxic soap to wash your cloth at least every other day. Let the cloth air dry in a clean place to avoid collecting bacteria or mildew.

    How to dry skin scrub

We recommend dry skin scrubbing first thing in the morning. You can cleanse your face either before or after scrubbing, but make sure your face is clean and completely dry before you start.

You'll want to scrub in upward strokes to a clean, dry damp face.
Finally, after you scrub, it’s important to follow-up with moisturizer, serum, or body butter to ensure your skin is absorbing fresh moisture.
In time, this process will produce naturally soft, supple skin.
If you're one with normal or oily skin, I would recommend giving it a shot twice a day morning and night.
*For best results before first time use, place the exfoliating cloth in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes to transform the fibers into a more tightly knit, soft cloth, releasing its gentle exfoliating properties.

The Warnings:

However, The Dry Skin Scrubbing Ritual isn't for everybody. If you have sensitive skin or prone to rosacea, you could experience irritation or flare-ups, so you might want to talk to your dermatologist before getting started on any dry-skin scrubbing ritual.

If you have just been out in the sun and gotten a burn or even a tan, dry scrubbing is not recommended.
Exceptions: Do not dry scrubbing on top of open sores.
     a. If you have chronic dry skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, proceed with caution and scrub around outbreaks
     b. If you have varicose veins, scrub around the affected vein. It is OK to scrub above the vein.

Never share your scrubbing cloth with other people
Don’t scrub in combination with a manual exfoliant or peel

Can dry scrubbing cause breakouts?
While it can significantly help regulate oil production, reduce the appearance of existing acne, and even prevent future breakouts, there is a chance that dry skin scrubbing will cause your face to (sometimes massively) breakout.
This will occur during the first week of ritual, and it’s completely normal. Continue scrubbing (only once per day in the beginning), and your skin will return to normal.

Will Dry Scrubbing Cause Damage to My Skin Over Time?

No, dry scrubbing is not going to damage your skin. Quite the contrary, you’ve just learned the secret of beautiful skin—exfoliation. When scrubbing with a gentle cloth like ours it'll bring it to you in the most effective, affordable way.

Care:

  • Hang your scrubber cloth to dry between uses
  • Hand wash or machine wash on gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent
  • Avoid bleach or fabric softeners
  • Hang to dry

TIP: Based on our experience, a single cloth will last approximately 3-5 months when used during daily cleansing rituals. It can then be repurposed as a house cleaning cloth.

If you’re serious about taking care of your skin, mind and body, it’s worth making dry skin scrubbing  as a part of your regular beauty routine.

Eat Well, Stay Hydrated

To make sure your skin doesn’t lose its vibrancy, keep away from processed and fatty foods. Eat a balanced diet that contains plenty of fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables are beneficial to the appearance and health of your skin, and will help protect it from free-radical damage. Foods rich in vitamins A, C and E in particular are particularly noted for improving the skin’s appearance. Furthermore, make sure to drink at least six glasses of water daily, as the body needs to receive adequate hydration to maintain healthy-looking skin. Avoid or limit caffeinated beverages since caffeine interferes with the body’s absorption of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C and iron, both strongly linked to a hydrated complexion and rosy glow.

I am sure you can keep your skin youthful for years to come. That is what I am striving for and have so far succeeded.

◦ The quicker you can treat the stain, the better. If you are unable to launder the garment immediately, leave it to soak in a pan full of cold water.

◦ Never wash a blood stain in warm or hot water, which may cause it to bond permanently to the fibers of the fabric.

◦ Always check the instructions on the garment’s care label; dry-clean only items need to be professionally cleaned soon after treating the stain.

Feminine Soap

My GYN said to me "your vagina needs you to just leave it alone. It can clean itself" "That is why we have good bacteria.”

While the external part of your nether regions (a.k.a. the vulva) needs some TLC, the internal portion (a.k.a. the vagina) does a pretty good job of taking care of itself. "The vagina has really great mechanisms within it to keep it clean and have its own little healthy 'ecosystem,'" says my GYN.

I've learned with my GYN that the vagina cleanses itself naturally. The cells in the vagina keep it at a normal pH so you should NEVER douche or use any sprays in your vagina (unless your health care provider prescribes it).

Typically, the vagina has a pH level of about 3.5 to 4.5 (pH is measured on a scale of zero to 14). When you use hygiene products like body wash and douches, which have generally have a pH of about eight, this can throw your pH balance out of whack, leading to itchiness, irritation, and odor. "Unscented soaps are always better because they don't have [fragrances] that could be irritants. What's more, bar soap is generally a better choice than body wash because it usually doesn't have as high of an alcohol content or as much of a scent.. Just make sure to keep an eye out for constant itching, dryness, a change in discharge, or an increase in yeast infections—these are signs that you should seek medical attention.

Our Feminine Soap Bar is specifically formulated for a woman's natural pH. Our mildest soap formulated with natural, edible oils to gently cleanse even the most sensitive areas.
FEATURES:
Very light scent
Creamy coconut soap to naturally cleanse the vulva without drying
Cocoa Butter to moisturize delicate skin
Works great as a face bar for dry skin
How can I keep my vulva and vagina clean?

Dilute your soap in water and use the smallest possible amount.

Separate your labia and let the warm soapy water clean all around the clitoral hood and between your labia. This will rinse off any secretions that get stuck in between skin folds.

In between baths or showers, you may wish to use a facecloth or a “peri-care” bottle to clean your vulva. This plastic bottle holds water and is also good to use during your period. You can usually find them at your local pharmacy for about a dollar or less.

Wash your genitals last.

Rinse completely and pat dry your vulva with a soft dry towel.

While on your period, change your tampon/pad often.

"Mint-scented soaps may create a "cooling" sensation, which while refreshing on skin, may be felt by some to be a bit TOO cooling on female private parts ....you may want to avoid prolonged exposure of this area with mint soaps."

Our handmade soaps will keep for months and months! Always know, that one handmade bar of soap will last longer than several commercial soaps. A handmade soap like ours is pure, no fillers added.

Commercial soap is produced in large batches-100.000 pounds or more. The mechanized process strips away the natural glycerin, adding it to the expensive moisturizers , face creams, and body lotions.
Glycerin is naturally produced in soap (a natural moisturizer). Without this natural glycerin, a commercial bar of soap will dry out your skin and face quickly. Take the test. Wash your hands with each, you will notice the difference immediately! Commercial soaps add fillers (inexpensive synthetic detergents) which will make more soap and create a greater profit.
All of our soaps are made in small batches by hand with premium ingredients starting with botanical and essential oils, joined with luxurious herbs, clays, and scented with essential oils. Unlike other manufacturers, we will never make our soaps with palm oil or artificial fragrance. Why? The palm oil industry has a devastating impact on some of the world’s most endangered animals and creates dangerous working environments for our farmer friends abroad. Until palm oil production has sustainable practices, we won’t be using any in our products. The term “fragrance” under an ingredient list may contain over 100 ingredients and companies do not have to disclose it because it is a “trade secret”. Even some products claiming that it is “unscented” may in fact contain scents to mask other ingredients in a product. At The Organic For You, we promise this budding relationship will be one without secrets. All our ingredients will be fully disclosed.
All of our soaps are handmade, and due to this handmade nature, design, texture, and color variations may occur, but that is part of the soap's character and charm; it's NOT perfect or popped-out of a machine! Some soaps contain ingredients (specifically scented soaps) that can accelerate thickening of the soap in production, and affect design techniques such as swirling. We cannot always achieve an identical swirl design in every batch.

WHAT IS THE OIL CLEANSING METHOD

The Oil Cleansing Method is a gentle way of cleanser that works well for all skin types, even for oily skin. It dissolves dirt and makeup without stripping the skin. Using cleansers that contain drying soap and detergents strips the skin of natural oils. If you have oily skin this might sound like a benefit but it’s not. As you strip the skin, it stimulates oil production. Your skin knows it needs oil to protect itself so when you strip the natural oils away it goes into overdrive to produce more. Essentially your skin is overreacting making it even more oily that it would otherwise be. And anyone with dry skin knows that drying it out just makes the problem worse!

HOW DO YOU WASH WITH OIL?

First, dampen your skin with a bit of water. Wet skin is permeable skin, meaning the oil you apply will better penetrate your skin cells.

Use a few drops of our Luscious Facial Cleansing Oil, and massage the skin in upward strokes, making sure to cover all areas of the face."
"We recommend using a damp wash cloth, towel or cotton pads to remove your oil cleanser [*see below]. This ensures all of the oil is gently removed from your skin. If oil is left behind after cleansing, you will not feel clean and clarified. Remove all of your oil cleanser from the skin before applying remaining skincare products. Oil cleansing can be done twice daily for best results (morning and night)."

How To {The Oil Cleansing Method}

The Basics of Cleansing with Oil

The Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) is good for both women and men. offers effective deep skin cleansing, skin health enhancement, and an opportunity for de-stressing and relaxation.

The basic concept of this skin care and cleansing method is that the oil used to massage your skin will dissolve the oil that has hardened with impurities and found itself stuck in your pores. Just a small pea size of an oil formula patted over damp skin will provide the necessary lubrication to keep your skin from over-compensating in oil production.

How To {The Oil Cleansing Method}

Cleansing with oil and a warm cloth gives your skin a deep clean while gently exfoliating.

Best done in the evening, before bed
First and foremost, this is typically done in the evening, prior to bed. There should be no need for deep cleansing in the morning if you're waking up with skin cleansed the night before. In the morning, a quick wipe with a warm washcloth should suffice. The act of removing the oil with the cloth also buffs off dead skin cells. We don't want to over cleanse our skin as this will serve only to irritate and cause more oil production. The objective of using this cleansing method is to deep clean while balancing our skins oil production at the same time.

Step 1: Pour a full dropper of oil into the palm of your hand and spread evenly over your face. Gently massage the oil into your face for 2-5 minutes to remove makeup, dirt and other impurities.

Step 2: Run a clean, soft washcloth under STEAMY warm water. The steam will open your pores, allowing the oil to be easily removed. You want it to be warm enough to steam the face and open up the pores, but not too hot that it will burn the skin. Cover your face with the washcloth and hold it there until it cools. You will feel your pores softening, opening, dissolving and releasing any stuck impurities.

Step 3: Gently wipe away the oil (do not scrub) and rinse the washcloth well in steamy warm water.

Step 4: Repeat steps 2 & 3 a few more times until your face feels cleansed and radiant.

Step 5: Apply a Toner

Step 6: Apply a Serum or Cream

The Right Way to Use a Cream Cleanser

Who should use our Cream Cleansers? The Dry Skin Types ....Dry skin are likely familiar with the feeling of washing your face, only to be left with skin that feels worse than it did before you stepped in front of the sink. To avoid tight and uncomfortable skin post-cleansing, try a cream cleanser. Our type of creamy cleanser works to gently wash the skin, only removing the excess oils that build up—not stripping the skin of the oils it needs. If you have mature skin that's on the dry side, you may want to consider using the Luxurious Calendula Cream Soap, which is formulated with replenishing oils and gently yet effectively removes traces of makeup, while leaving skin feeling softer.
Image result for THE RIGHT WAY TO USE A CREAM CLEANSERIf you wear makeup and you're going to use a cream, milk or lotion cleanser, you need to make sure you're getting your skin thoroughly clean, and not leaving any cleanser behind on your skin.
Step 1: Apply the cream cleanser to dry (not wet) skin and massage it around for a few moments.
Step 2: Wet your fingertips with water and continue massaging the product. This will emulsify it, making it easier to remove.
Step 3: Rinse with water. This will have taken off most of your makeup.
Step 4: Clean your skin. Even if you weren't wearing makeup, you STILL need to remove the cleanser residue.
Here are some options to try: Balancing Aloe Facial Cleanser for all skin types and Botanical Cleansing Milk for Dry/Sensitive Skin
  • Use the cream cleanser twice: If you don't want to use a second cleanser, consider simply cleansing twice with your cream cleanser. The second pass should get your skin cleaner than trying to do it all in one step. But you should still get the residue off with a cloth, rose water or toner.
  • Use a cloth: Another good way to ensure you're not leaving residue on your skin is to take off the cream cleanser with a face cloth instead of rinsing. After you've massaged the cleanser around, immerse a soft cloth in warm water, and drape it over your face for five seconds before using it to gently wipe away the cleanser. Repeat this process up to four times. The steam will aid removal, and also help soften dead skin. The buffing action of the cloth will take off the cleanser and give you a mild exfoliation.
  • Use a cleansing water:  Rose Water or cleansing waters, are another way to wash your face and can be used after cream cleanser to get rid of any lingering residue. Alternatively, you can do a final pass with toner—just check that you're not picking up any actual dirt with the cotton pad. If you are, it's a sign that you need to go back and wash your face more thoroughly. Don't rely on toner to do the job of cleansing.
  • Use the exfoliating clothCream cleansers, because they're non-abrasive, are a good choice to use with the exfoliating cloth. The buffing movements of the brush can also up their effectiveness Either way, We still recommend to follow up with rose water or toner, to be on the safe side.
Hopefully, this has clarified how you can make cream cleansers work for you!
